The ILA helped establish the Wilson Family Scholarship for Kirkwood Community College Horse Science students in 2007.
Pictured below are members of the Kirkwood Foundation, Nancy Barta, Gene and Rachel Wehrheim, Nellie & Joe Wilson, and four horse science scholarship recipients (George Barta Scholarship, Verne Upmier Scholarship, Abraham Family Scholarship, and Wehrheim Family Scholarship).
January 26-27, 2008
The ILA participated in the 2008 Kirkwood Tack Swap Meet at the Iowa Equestrian Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Information regarding the ILA and its activities were distributed and members brought horse-related items to sell at the booth.
January 15, 2008
The ILA held a Dinner & Movie Night on January 15, 2008, at the Solon Public Library in Solon, Iowa. Members enjoyed a nice meal and good movie. The movie shown was Gypsy Colt.

The ILA held a Dinner & Movie Night on March 18, 2008, at the Solon Public Library in Solon, Iowa. Members enjoyed a nice meal and good movie. The movie shown was Horses of the World.
May 22, 2008
On May 22, 2008, the ILA hosted a Tai Chi Seminar with Dr. Frank Cheng at the Solon Public Library in Solon, Iowa. Dr. Cheng has been practicing Tai Chi since his youth and has incorporated it into all aspects of his life.
Dr. Cheng began the evening with a brief introduction about the history of Tai Chi and the varying techniques of this ancient Chinese exercise. He followed this with a demonstration of the basic movements. The key to this exercise is to move slowly and in circular motions. Participants at the seminar got to try their hand at it as Dr. Cheng led them through the movements.
The seminar was well received by participants and many gained a greater awareness of what is involved with this exercise - it is not easy.
August 8-9, 2008
On August 8-9, 2008, the ILA and Shellhaven Farm hosted a dressage clinic with Herwig Radnetter of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
The clinic was a huge success and participants benefited greatly from the experience.

ILA Annual Meeting & Potluck
September 27, 2008
On September 27, 2008, the ILA and Medicine River Farms hosted the NSGNT and Work in Hand clinics.
Participants were able to have hands-on experience with the techniques and it was a fun day.
Following the clinics participants gathered for a wonderful feast and discussed ideas for 2009.
